DesignPro vs 2020 Design, line by line

The same work, on two very different pieces of software. Published competitor figures are cited, and the places 2020 is still ahead are listed too.

DesignPro is browser-based 3D kitchen design software built by a cabinet dealer. Against 2020 Design, now sold as Design Flex, it runs on any operating system rather than Windows only, is priced by dealership rather than $2,495 to $2,995 per seat per year, requires no $845 certification class, and renders photoreal from the same design.

What actually changes when the software lives in a browser

The licence model is downstream of the technology. 2020 is Windows software installed on a machine, so the seat is the unit: a second designer means a second install, a second licence, and a desk that has to be the right kind of computer. A dealership with three people selling kitchens pays three times.

DesignPro is a web app. The design lives on the server, the renderer runs on whatever GPU the browser has, and a URL opens it. That means the quote you were building at the counter opens on the iPad you hand across the island, and on the laptop your installer has in the truck, without a transfer step or a second licence.

It also means there is no version lag. Nobody at your dealership is three releases behind because the install was never run.

What a seat licence really costs a three person showroom

Take the published figures at face value and do the arithmetic. Three designers on Design Flex at the low end of the published range is $7,485 a year, before the $845 it costs to certify each new hire. Turn one of those three over in a year and the training line arrives again.

DesignPro prices by dealership. Adding the person you hired in February does not change the bill, which is the behaviour a growing showroom actually wants from its software. How DesignPro pricing works.

Where 2020 is still ahead

This matters more than another bullet about speed, so it gets its own section rather than a footnote.

  • Manufacturer catalog coverage. 2020 has been in dealerships for decades and carries a far larger library of manufacturer catalogs than DesignPro does today. DesignPro ships one stock catalog of 281 cabinet SKUs with order-true dimensions, plus your pricing. If your business depends on dozens of brands modelled natively right now, that gap is real.
  • Deep manufacturing and ERP integrations. Long-standing pipelines into manufacturer ordering systems exist there and do not here. DesignPro exports an order-ready CSV for a vendor workflow, which covers a dealer workflow but is not the same thing as a native manufacturer link.
  • Track record. 2020 has been shipping for a very long time. DesignPro is in beta, with early access open to a small group of dealers at a time, and we say so on every page.

If you need any of those three, stay where you are for now. If what you actually do all day is draw a room, place cabinets, price it and give the customer something to say yes to, the rest of this page is the argument.

Switching, honestly

There is no import from a 2020 catalog, and pretending otherwise would waste your time. What dealers in early access have done instead is run the next new job in DesignPro while the old tool keeps the jobs already in flight. A kitchen takes long enough to design that one job is a fair test, and the live demo on the home page lets you judge the renderer before you type an email address.

Is DesignPro a replacement for 2020 Design?

For the job most dealers do all day, drawing a room, placing cabinets, pricing it and handing the customer something to approve, yes. DesignPro runs in the browser on any operating system and is priced by dealership rather than per seat. 2020 Design carries a far larger library of manufacturer catalogs, so a dealer who needs dozens of brands modelled natively today is still better served there.

How much does 2020 Design cost?

Published Design Flex pricing, the current name for 2020 Design, runs $2,495 to $2,995 per seat per year, with a $845 two day training course to certify a new designer. Those are published figures from cyncly.com and 2020spaces.com as of August 2026, not a quote. DesignPro is priced by dealership rather than per seat and is free for dealers in early access.

Does DesignPro run on a Mac?

Yes. DesignPro runs in any modern browser on WebGL, which means Mac, Windows, Linux, and an iPad on the showroom counter. There is nothing to install and no licence tied to one machine. 2020 Design is Windows software.

How long does it take to learn DesignPro?

In an internal side by side test with first time users on one kitchen layout in both tools, the DesignPro user finished the same kitchen more than three times faster, with no class. That is a single internal test rather than an industry benchmark, but there is no certification course to take.

Can I try it before switching?

Yes. The home page runs the real editor on a live kitchen with no account needed. Early access seats open to a small group of dealers at a time and are free while early access lasts.

Design one real job in it.

That is the only test that settles this. Seats open to a small group of dealers at a time.
